BBC: Roman shipyard found by British archaeologists, and redshifting beetles

British archaeologists have found an ancient shipyard in Italy that built or maintained ships for the Roman empire.

And this one's more palaeontology than archaeology, but still interesting: A scientist at Yale has found that beetle exoskeletons redshift slightly as they fossilise.

That could be interesting; I wonder if they'll be able to learn more about routes by water that way - or if it might say anything about how trade worked.
